Did you know? A bequest is the most common method for making an estate gift.

A charitable bequest in a will may be made as:

  • A specified dollar amount.
  • A fixed percentage of the estate.
  • The residue - that which remains after providing for your other beneficiaries.
  • A particular piece of property.

Why make a charitable bequest in your will?

  • You may be able to provide a more significant gift than you can make from your current assets.
  • First Presbyterian Church will be honored to be remembered in your will.
  • Your estate will receive tax advantages from your generosity.
How do I leave a bequest in my will?
  • To leave a specified dollar amount, state:
"I give, devise and bequeath to First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, Florida, $_____________."

  • To leave a fixed percentage of your estate, state:
"I give, devise and bequeath to First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, Florida, _____% of my estate, including real and personal property."

  • To leave a bequest of the residue of your estate after other bequests, state:
"The residue of my estate, including real and personal property, I give, devise, and bequeath to First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, Florida."

  • To leave a particular piece of property such as land or a residence, state:
"I give, devise and bequeath to First Presbyterian Church of Winter Haven, Florida, (descriptions of the property) located at (exact location)."

A will is the foundation of your estate plan, and a charitable bequest in your will can establish your Legacy of Love for future generations of church members.
