ift Annuities are simple tools for estate and tax planning.

Special Characteristics of a Gift Annuity

A charitable gift annuity is a contractual arrangement between the donor(s) and a charitable organization that issues gift annuities. The annuity is an obligation and a promise made by the issuing organization to make fixed payments to the annuitant(s) for the life of the annuitant(s).

Those donating through gift annuity contracts do two things:

  • Purchase the right to receive the stated annuity.
  • Make a charitable gift to the issuer.

The basic concept includes the following:

  • Tax savings are realized by the donor(s) from a current income tax deduction for part of the value transferred.
  • Some nontaxable return of one's original contribution is received over a period of years.
  • A guaranteed flow of payments to the donor(s) without management responsibilities or market risk.
  • A reduction of the estate tax when the gift reduces the value of the donor(s) taxable estate.
  • The satisfaction of leaving a Legacy of Love to benefit the work of First Presbyterian Church, Winter Haven and continue your tithe in perpetuity.

The First Presbyterian Church issues charitable gift annuity contract agreements through the Presbyterian Foundation, USA, using established annuity rates and the government table of expectancies.
